Last night was my first night in my new home. I successfully unpacked as much of the mess that I had and found space in my bed to crash.
I don’t know about you, but the first night anywhere new I have a hard time sleeping. The lights flickering outside, the mini-party going on across the hallway. Thus, I didn’t get settled until about 1am.
However, I got my ass up this morning at 5:15am for the damn 5 at 5 challenge from Seth at Primal Stride. Really? I am not even working anymore…this is my damn holidays. Well I did 5km run walking in about 36 minutes. There were hills, not as bad as Ange’s Murder Hills..but they got my heart pumping. I got out the door at the last minute, 5:59am š
Oh and yes, I did not wear a shirt, just a sports bra. That’s right I giggled with my stretch marks. I didn’t care. Neither did the old men walking š I will be doing the 5 at 5 challenge as well as the Whittle My Middle #2 this whole time. I am excited. These are the views I had on my walk..they’re my views for the next year. SO GREAT!
I have been living off of nectarines, rice crackers and peanut butter cause I don’t have a fridge. It is exciting to say this…but I am going to be going away Down South with three boys this weekend. We are going to be hiking around some of the beautiful places down south, swimming/snorkeling and enjoying life. I almost didn’t go cause nothing NOTHING is planned. However, I need to push outside of my organised comfort zones and just go with life.
I am NOT taking my computer AT ALL. Instead I am REALLY taking a break from blogging. I will be back Wednesday Night or Thursday morning. I haven’t taken a break from blogging, not even when I was in Timor, and not even when I said I was going to take one over the holidays.
So..have a good couple of days. Please say a prayer for my sanity. I am taking books, i pod and lots of patience. Full re-cap when I get back.
What do you do when you need a break?

Have fun, and don’t let your mind worry about anything!! You deserve the break!
Way to go on the 5 @ 5!
Have a fun time!
oh my gosh! enjoy the adventure!
You go girl! I cant remember the last time I woke up at 5am…lol. Those views are beautiful!

PS Let me know if you’re still in on Eat in Month Challenge (http://thechiclife.typepad.com/the_chic_life/2009/12/eat-in-month-challenge—january-2010.html) and I’ll add your name and link! I hope you can still play! š
Have an awesome time this weekend!!! So excited for you!
Sounds like so much fun, have a blast and enjoy the break!
5am is hard-core.
WHen I need a break I like to go do something active with Hunni. We just bought snowshoes to help with the winter breaks.
we will miss you my dear, but I know that the break is well deserved and much needed- sometimes you just HAVE to unplug and unwind!
That being said, however, I can’t wait for the recaps š
Whenever I need a break I usually just unplug. I may still twitter and use my iPhone for anything I might want but I don’t blog and I try to avoid e-mail. That usually makes me feel better and ready to dive right in! š
I can’t wait to hear about your trip though and good luck with unplugging!
Wow on the 5 at 5 now my kids sleep thru the night I don’t remember when the last time was I got up at that time!!
I love the scenery in AU, I miss those wonderful waterviews everywhere.
Enjoy your trip.
Those views are stunning! If everyone had views like that, we’d probably have people outside exercising more. š
I hope you have a great time this weekend!! I’m the same way…I’m leery of “unplanned plans,” but I need to be brave like you and just GO FOR IT! Have a blast!
Have fun and enjoy the break!
When I need a break, I go to the beach and stay there for a night or two. Or I go to the mountains and just chill with my boyfriend….
I’m so jealous that you have the courage to workout in just your sports bra. I’m not there yet.
Have a wonderful trip š
Breaks are always good!
How’s the 5 at 5 going?????? (
Awesomly!
What amazing landscapes. It must take A LOT of courage to get up that early and go running, but I’m sure the idea of these beautiful views probably helps to lure you out of bed!
I believe you will get a nice surprise as far as the break is concerned. Sounds like you have a rather fast-paced life, and it’s generally quite empowering to leave everything behind and spend a few days with no computer or phone. Have lots of fun, look forward to your next entry!!

It was fabulous and made me think a lot about what I put my time towards in my ‘everyday life’. It also made me want to move onto a farm and grow my own veggies and have animals š
A break does a mind, body, and spirit good! Enjoy this part of your journey.
Wow, that sounds really nice…I could use some warmer weather right about now!

Hey good for you taking a proper computer-free break. I try to do that from time-to-time as well and it’s great.
I’m just back from mine. Did you have a good time?
Oh and Happy New Year.
I so miss the sun and warmth – it’s all snowy here :o(
